WELCOME TO OUR
PARENTS' CORNER
Afterschool Labs is privileged to have a friendly and supportive parent body. The purpose of this policy is to continue that atmosphere and provide a reminder to all parents and visitors to our program about expected conduct. This is so we can continue to flourish, progress and achieve in an atmosphere of mutual respect and understanding.
All staff, students and parents have the right to be in an environment that is safe and protective.
We expect parents and other visitors to behave in a reasonable way towards staff, students, and other parents.
Parents and visitors shall:
-
Respect staff, students, and fellow parents
-
Understand that both teachers and parents need to work together for the benefit of their child
-
Seek to clarify a student’s version of events with the Lead Teacher’s view in order to bring about a peaceful resolution
-
Speak to the Lead Teacher to help resolve concerns
In order to support a safe and protective Afterschool Labs environment we will be intolerant of parents and visitors who display the following:
-
Disruptive behavior that interferes or threatens to interfere with the operation of the program.
-
Using loud and/or offensive language, swearing, cursing, using profanity or displaying aggressive temper.

-
Defamatory, offensive or derogatory comments regarding the school or any of the students/parent/staff. Any concerns you may have must be made through the appropriate channels by speaking to the Lead Teacher first, so they can be dealt with fairly, appropriately and effectively for all concerned.
-
The use of physical aggression towards another adult or child.
-
Approaching someone else’s child in order to discuss or chastise them because of the actions of this child towards their own child. (Such an approach to a child may be seen to be an assault on that child and may have legal consequences).
