Appleton and Huntsville City Schools have partnered to provide students and parents with the opportunity to participate in an innovative, STEAM-based learning adventure. Appleton’s extended learning programs transform traditional learning into academic play by engaging students in hands-on investigations, real-world explorations, and team building challenges. By participating in Appleton’s extended learning programs, students experience the world as scientists, programmers, engineers, artists, and mathematicians.
Afterschool Labs invites students in pre-kindergarten through eighth-grade to participate in an exploratory journey that promotes the development of critical, creative, and collaborative thinking skills. Learn more about the Afterschool Labs experience and register your child today!
Academic Enrichment
For one hour every Monday and Wednesday, students will explore topics related to the science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics inherent in each curriculum theme listed below.
ETIQUETTE + ESPIONAGE
It’s a mission in manners for Afterschool Labs students this fall! As students participate in spy STEAM challenges, they will also focus on their manners and character development. Mission: Accepted – and thank you!
STREAM PART II
In this unit of study, Afterschool Labs’ students will collaborate in STEAM + Literacy activities to develop an understanding for mistakes + how they can turn into something beautiful. With a literary foundation, students will create messes + then design masterpieces of engineering + art from their mistakes.
HISTORICALLY ENGINEERED
Have you ever wondered what the pyramids are made of? In this unit, students delve into historical engineering + inventions as they are introduced to famous architects + scientists that literally helped shape the world
